A Step by Step Guide to Replacing a Fascia Board

Weather can take its toll on an exterior of a property, and fascias and guttering are no exception. With fascias holding the guttering in place, and protecting the edging of your roof, when rot sets in it is time for them to be replaced.

How to Replace a WC Suite

For those DIY enthusiasts who fancy themselves as skilled enough to successfully undertake many tasks in their home, replacing a toilet suite can seem like an appropriate challenge. Whether it is because your current WC suite is faulty or because you would simply like a change in your home, there is a set procedure to follow to ensure that installation goes to plan.

Solar Panel Ecapsulant

An encapsulant is used to bond or join the top and bottom layers of the solar panels, the glass and back-sheet respectively, to the main middle layer which has the solar cells. This is a very important component because it unites the layers into one solid layer but does not reduce the properties of the three main layers especially their transmittance and low thermal resistance.

How Does A Solar Panel Work?

When researching the topic of “how does a solar panel work”, one will find mixed information concerning how the energy is produced through the panels and cells themselves. A number of solar cells should be connected in series to achieve a usable voltage to work with an electrical device or storage. The electricity produced by a solar panel is a direct current (DC) that is usually identified by its negative and positive terminals. Just like the battery which also has a positive and negative terminals, the solar cells work in a similar sense.

How Does a Solar Panel Work?

A common question when building your own solar panel is quite simply, how does a solar panel work? This article will answer one very important part of that question; what is the junction box and how does it work? When a solar panel is manufactured, the final component is almost always the junction box. The junction box is a plastic enclosure with its own mechanical assembly inside. The internal mechanism includes connectors and diodes. The junction box is usually bonded with silicone adhesive after it has connected to the electrical contacts located at the backsheet. If for whatever reason you have a solar panel without a junction box or if the junction box was damaged and you need to replace it, connecting is as easy as plug and play. You just align the junction box to the back contacts and then insert it. But you must have already applied the silicone adhesive on the side of the junction box that touches the backsheet prior to insertion.
