One day we preheated our oven, then came back to find that the oven hadn’t heated up at all. We have a gas oven and it was just sitting at 100 degrees. The gas didn’t turn on and light. After waiting for over an hour it still wasn’t getting hot. We thought we could trick it by turning on the broiler.
After going through the common causes we realized that the igniter was going bad. A day later we tried it and were able to get the flames to light, but it took several minutes. After taking the oven apart we replaced the igniter and it’s worked great since then.
